A “heliotrope” is most notably a type of flowering plant that is known for growing towards the light, but it is also used to describe a pinkish-purple color, a tool used to reflect light to mark positions for land survey, and a four piece band from Brooklyn. The Heliotropes, as their name suggests, have a fuzzed out stoner sound, like your brain after an afternoon on the beach, but with a darker, grungy drone that reverberates around the edges. A follow-up to their “Moonlight” 7”, this 45 also comes to you courtesy of LA experimental pop label Manimal Vinyl, available September 11.
